A day at the Good Food & Wine Show

Like most women, I have an affinity for the latest fashion, music, shoes and reality programs....But when it comes to food, I have a passion that is all consuming.

As the new month breaks, and the meagre amounts in my bank account becomes ever-so-slightly supplemented, I head to my favourite food haunts.  Here I choose to spend my money on an assortment of exciting ingredients from over the world, and indulge in the newest culinary tools and gadgets.

This past week has seen Cape Town being invaded by talented local- and international chefs at the annual Good Food & Wine Show ( http://www.goodfoodandwineshow.co.za/).  Giants in the international food scene, including Heston Blumenthal, James Martin, Atlul Kochhar, and Masterchef Australia contestant, Jonathan Daddia, was set to captivate Capetonians with their talent.  Predictably, tickets for this major event took precedence over that gorgeous pair of boots I've been eyeing for weeks!

Apart from the educational presentations and food-appreciation courses, audiences could also indulge in mouth-watering food-samples, and beautiful wines from the region.  My mom and I especially showed our appreciation to these magicians of the vineyards!

Before I ended up spending the rest of my afternoon at the wine theatre, I was able to explore some of the creative gadgets on display.  Products such as the Snappy Chef induction cooker (http://www.snappychef.co.za/) showed what was at the forefront of economical cooking.

I also adored the colourful and original range by cupcake wrap.  These pretty wrappers can make any cupcake look like it's been created by an award-winning Parisian pastry chef (http://www.cupcakewrap.co.za/)

The list of awe-inspiring products go on and on.  Check the space below for some of the things that caught my eye.  Next blog entry you can look forward to reading more about some of my favourite restaurants.  Until then my fellow food-lovers, happy cooking;)
